Family involvement in occupational therapy
It is my number priority to involve my patient's family in therapy. Before doing so, however, my first goal would be to build and establish a relationship with my patient. In order to do so, I would build rapport with the child by asking the child questions to get to know him or her. I would also create a safe and welcoming environment so that the children can express and challenge themselves, which allows them to trust me. Although a well-esablished patient-therapist relationship is crucial, it is just equally as crucial to focus on a connection with the family members as well.
